When done well, ePortfolios are a high-impact practice that has been shown to deepen learning, making learning more meaningful and connected, and support identity development (Eynon & Gambino, 2017, 2018). The ePortfolio Symposium is a professional development opportunity for all faculty and staff from any IU campus who are involved in ePortfolio work or interested in learning about ePortfolios as a high-impact practice. Held online, the symposium will include interactive sessions that allow for discussion and sharing of ideas, and are informative of ePortfolio curriculum, pedagogies, skills, and assessment.
The ePortfolio Symposium will explore the high-quality implementation of ePortfolio with sessions that focus on the four attributes of the ePortfolio High-Impact Practice Taxonomy:
- ePortfolio Curriculum – ePortfolio is central to the curricular design of the course, program, or university experience
- ePortfolio Pedagogy – ePortfolio pedagogies support integrative, self-directed learning, and student identity development
- ePortfolio Making Skills – ePortfolio-making skills are explicitly taught to students
- ePortfolio Assessment – ePortfolio assessment is holistic and aligned with learning processes and outcomes
